Several tornadoes were reported across Ionia and Montcalm counties, including a powerful EF0 twister that caused damage to several farms and outbuildings in Belding. The tornado, which struck at approximately 6:07 PM and lasted for a brief 3 minutes, had wind speeds of up to 85 MPH and left a 2.1-mile path of damage. According to the National Weather Service (NWS), a few homes sustained minor roofing and siding damage, with large tree branches and trunks snapped along the path.
Another EF0 tornado hit Muir around 6:21 PM, causing minor property and tree damage along its 0.5-mile path. The twister’s maximum wind speed was 65 MPH, and it caused less extensive damage compared to the Belding storm.
Both tornadoes were brief but caused significant local disruptions. The NWS has completed preliminary damage assessments and is continuing to monitor conditions in the affected regions. Local authorities are advising residents to stay aware of weather updates and report any additional damage to emergency services.
