Michigan Tornado Update: 3 Twisters Confirmed in St. Charles, Atlas, and Gregory After Overnight Storms

Detroit, Michigan – Three tornadoes touched down across southeast Michigan early Friday morning, snapping trees, damaging homes, and cutting through neighborhoods in St. Charles, Atlas, and Gregory.

According to the National Weather Service in Detroit/Pontiac, all three tornadoes were rated EF-0 and struck between 12:03 and 12:38 a.m. Friday. The storms packed winds between 75 and 90 mph, with paths up to 1.6 miles long. No injuries or fatalities were reported.

In St. Charles, a tornado uprooted trees near Dempsey Road and Walnut Street, damaging homes when limbs fell onto rooftops. The storm tracked across the Bad River and Coal Miner’s Park before lifting near a residential area.

Near Atlas, a brief tornado downed trees around Maple Avenue and Atlas Road, continuing northeast past Goodrich and M-15 before dissipating. Tree debris caused minor structural damage but no reported injuries.

The strongest of the three storms hit between Stockbridge and Gregory, where winds reached 90 mph. Trees were snapped along M-106 and one barn was destroyed on the edge of a dairy farm.

Residents should remain alert as damage assessments continue. More storm-related advisories could be issued through the weekend.
