
St. Joseph County, MI – An EF-2 tornado struck St. Joseph County on Tuesday morning, causing significant damage along its path, including the destruction of several barn roofs.
According to the National Weather Service Northern Indiana, the tornado touched down at 8:19 a.m. near Lewis Lake, with peak winds reaching 115 mph. The storm traveled southeast for 8.46 miles, snapping power poles and damaging trees along Berry Lane. It reached its maximum width of 700 yards near Day Road, where it displaced a manufactured home approximately five feet from its foundation and completely destroyed a barn.
Near the intersection of Bent Road and Floating Bridge Road, the tornado removed the roof of a two-story barn and carried it 30 feet away. Additional damage was reported along Cowling Road, where a well-constructed shed was moved 20-30 feet from its foundation and part of the structure was thrown into the Rocky River.
The tornado continued its path of destruction, causing minor roof damage to a warehouse along North Main Street in Three Rivers before dissipating at 8:33 a.m. Despite the extensive damage, no injuries or fatalities were reported.
