Michigan Tornado March 30th Recap: EF-1 Storms Tear Through Edwardsburg, Cassopolis

Cass County, MI – A pair of EF-1 tornadoes struck Cass County, Michigan, on March 30, 2025, causing significant damage along their paths. The storms, which occurred within minutes of each other, affected both Edwardsburg and the area south of Cassopolis.

According to the National Weather Service, the Edwardsburg tornado, which occurred between 4:52 and 4:55 p.m., had peak winds of 100 mph. The storm traveled 2.59 miles, with a maximum width of 100 yards. The path ran through the heart of Edwardsburg, passing near the high school. No injuries or fatalities were reported in the area.

Less than 10 minutes later, another EF-1 tornado developed south of Cassopolis. This storm lasted from 4:56 to 4:58 p.m., with winds reaching 90 mph. It covered a 2.01-mile path and was 200 yards wide at its peak. The tornado caused damage in rural areas, snapping trees and damaging equipment along its route, but no casualties were reported.

Residents in both areas were advised to stay vigilant as clean-up efforts began. Local officials continue to assess the damage from the storms.
