Gaylord, MI – The National Weather Service in Gaylord has issued an urgent warning for heavy lake-effect snow beginning Wednesday evening and continuing through Friday, with accumulations of 6 to 12 inches or more possible in parts of northern Michigan.

Periods of heavy snow, along with blowing and drifting, are expected to cause hazardous travel conditions and significant drops in visibility, especially during the Thanksgiving holiday period.

Forecasters caution that even slight shifts in wind direction could alter where the heaviest snow bands set up. Travelers across northwestern Lower Michigan are urged to monitor weather updates, allow extra time, and avoid unnecessary travel during peak snowfall.
