Gaylord, MI – A burst of winter weather is set to impact northern Michigan this weekend, bringing snow showers, gusty winds, and chilly temperatures. Despite the arrival of spring, winter conditions will persist, affecting travel and outdoor plans across the region.

According to the National Weather Service, rain showers will develop Friday evening before transitioning to snow overnight. Snow showers will continue into Saturday afternoon, with gusts reaching up to 30 mph. Wind chills could drop temperatures close to zero in some areas, making conditions feel more like mid-January than late March.

Saturday night will see lingering snow showers before clearing up slightly. Sunday will bring another round of snow, with a 70% chance of accumulation. High temperatures will hover in the mid-to-upper 30s throughout the weekend, keeping roadways slick.

By Monday, snow showers will persist in the morning before tapering off later in the day. Tuesday and Wednesday are expected to bring slightly milder conditions, with highs near 40°F and partly sunny skies. However, overnight lows will remain cold, dipping into the teens and low 20s.

Drivers should exercise caution, especially on highways like I-75, where icy patches may form. Residents are advised to bundle up, secure outdoor objects, and prepare for changing conditions. Despite the spring calendar, winter isn’t finished with Michigan just yet.
