Marquette, MI – The first day of spring in Upper Michigan isn’t bringing warm temperatures just yet. Instead, Marquette County will see snow, strong winds, and cold conditions through Friday morning, with blustery weather lasting into the weekend.

According to the National Weather Service, a Winter Weather Advisory remains in effect until 5 a.m. Friday for Marquette County, where snowfall totals of 3 to 7 inches are expected. Wind gusts could reach 40 mph, reducing visibility and making travel hazardous, especially along US-41 and M-28.

Looking ahead to the weekend, Friday will be mostly cloudy with highs in the mid-40s. Winds will remain gusty, making it feel colder. Friday night brings another chance of snow showers, with lows dipping into the teens.

Saturday will offer a slight break, with partly sunny skies and highs near 26°F. However, another round of snow showers is likely Sunday, keeping the chilly pattern in place.

Drivers should remain cautious, especially in open areas where blowing snow could reduce visibility. If travel is necessary, carry emergency supplies, including a flashlight, food, and water.

With winter-like conditions persisting, residents should prepare for a colder-than-usual start to spring. Check local forecasts regularly for updates.
