Grand Rapids, MI – Spring starts warm in West Michigan, but don’t pack away the coats just yet—snow could return by Monday morning.
A warming trend will bring highs near 55°F by Friday, but residents across Grand Rapids and Kent County should prepare for a sudden shift in weather. Rain is expected to begin late Friday evening, with an 90% chance of showers before 8 a.m. Saturday, according to the National Weather Service. Gusty winds may also affect drivers on US-131 and I-96 through Saturday.
By Sunday, temperatures drop again, setting up a 40% chance of snow showers before 2 p.m. Monday, with high temperatures only reaching 42°F. Commuters should monitor updates closely, especially with wet or slick roads possible for the Monday morning rush hour.
Friday and Saturday will see mostly sunny conditions early before shifting to cloud cover and rain. Expect breezy conditions with gusts up to 36 mph Thursday and Friday. Saturday afternoon could still see lingering showers with cooler evening lows dipping to 31°F.
The second half of the week looks clearer. Tuesday and Wednesday will bring sunshine and highs in the upper 40s to low 50s, providing a return to calmer spring conditions.
