Detroit, MI – Southeast Michigan will see a sharp shift in weather Wednesday as heavy rain transitions to snow overnight. Strong winds up to 28 mph could create hazardous conditions, especially for evening commuters.

According to the National Weather Service, rain will begin early Wednesday with temperatures reaching 58°F. Winds from the south-southeast will range from 13 to 15 mph, with gusts up to 28 mph. By Wednesday night, temperatures will drop to 30°F, turning rain into snow after 4 a.m. New snowfall could reach half an inch, making roads slick Thursday morning.

Drivers on I-94, I-75, and local roadways should prepare for changing conditions. Wet roads may freeze overnight, increasing the risk of black ice. Those commuting early Thursday should allow extra travel time and check for potential delays.

By Thursday, scattered snow showers will taper off, and skies will gradually clear. Highs will stay chilly at 39°F, with breezy conditions persisting.

Looking ahead, Friday brings another chance of rain and snow, with temperatures peaking at 42°F. The weekend will be drier, with partly sunny skies Saturday and Sunday and highs in the upper 30s.

With spring around the corner, Michigan’s weather remains unpredictable. Stay updated on forecast changes and travel safely.
