Detroit, MI – A round of intense snow squalls could create dangerous driving conditions across Southeast Michigan today, followed by more snowfall into the weekend.

According to the National Weather Service (NWS) in Detroit, a brief but intense period of snow squalls is possible this afternoon between 1 p.m. and 8 p.m. These bursts of heavy snow, combined with west winds of 20-30 mph, could reduce visibility to near zero. A Winter Weather Advisory remains in effect until 7 a.m. Friday for Wayne, Monroe, Lenawee, and Washtenaw counties, with an expected accumulation of 2-4 inches.

Temperatures will stay in the mid-20s today, with another round of heavy snow possible Friday night into Saturday as a low-pressure system moves through the Ohio Valley. Road conditions could become treacherous, particularly during the Friday morning and evening commutes. Drivers are urged to slow down and allow extra time for travel.

The five-day forecast shows continued cold conditions with snow likely on Sunday. Temperatures will drop into the single digits by Monday morning.
