Grand Rapids, MI – West-central Michigan drivers face challenging conditions Friday morning as snow continues to accumulate, creating icy roadways across the region.
According to the National Weather Service (NWS), a Winter Weather Advisory remains in effect until 10 a.m. Friday, with areas like Muskegon, Ludington, and Grand Rapids experiencing additional snowfall of up to 2 inches. This brings total snow accumulations to 2 to 5 inches in some locations.
Motorists should exercise caution during their morning commutes, with icy roads likely along major highways such as I-96 and US-131. Temperatures will remain near freezing, limiting melting and increasing the risk of accidents.
Snowfall is expected to taper off by late morning, with conditions improving as crews clear roads. Weekend temperatures will range from 30°F to 35°F, with partly cloudy skies on Saturday and Sunday.
Plan ahead for potential delays and monitor updates from local authorities for real-time road conditions.
