Monroe, MI – A playful high school tradition is raising public safety concerns again in Monroe County.
High school seniors have resumed participation in the “Senior Assassins” game, prompting warnings from law enforcement. According to a Thursday morning release from the Monroe County Sheriff’s Office, Sheriff Troy Goodnough advised that the water-gun-based game often leads to 911 calls when participants are mistaken for suspicious individuals.
The sheriff’s office emphasized that while the game is not condoned, safety guidelines should be followed. Students are urged not to trespass, to use clearly toy-like water guns, and avoid wearing masks or camouflage. Residents are encouraged to report suspicious activity to police, but not to intervene themselves.
