VILLAGE OF CLARKSTON, Mich. – The Michigan Department of Transportation (MDOT) will begin resurfacing southbound I-75 in early March. This $160 million project will span four years, improving bridges, drainage, culverts, and signage along 15 miles.
MDOT plans to mill and resurface southbound lanes from M-15 to the Oakland/Genesee county line. Northbound traffic will share lanes with southbound vehicles during construction. Crews will also repair bridges along the stretch. Work is expected to finish by late fall.
In 2026, MDOT will remove temporary crossovers and complete the final touches. Officials say this investment supports Michigan’s infrastructure and will enhance road longevity.
Gov. Gretchen Whitmer’s Rebuilding Michigan program funds the project. State leaders expect the initiative to create or sustain 1,936 jobs.
Drivers should expect delays and lane shifts during construction. Officials urge motorists to follow posted signs and allow extra travel time.
