Battle Creek, MI – A road rage confrontation on Interstate 94 this afternoon resulted in the arrest of a Pennfield man on weapons charges and felonious assault.

According to the Calhoun County Sheriff’s Office, deputies responded around 2:20 p.m. to a report of a man pointing a gun on eastbound I-94 near Mile Marker 108. A 31-year-old man from Norton Shores told authorities that the driver of a blue Chevrolet Cruze aimed a firearm at him while he attempted to pass.

The altercation appeared to be triggered by a traffic dispute, with the suspect allegedly preventing the victim from merging or passing on the highway.

The suspect’s vehicle reportedly exited the interstate at Old U.S. 27 and was soon located by deputies. The driver, a 24-year-old man from Pennfield, was stopped without incident and allegedly found in possession of a handgun matching the victim’s description.

Following the investigation, the man was taken into custody and booked into the Calhoun County Jail. He faces charges of Carrying a Concealed Weapon and Felonious Assault. No injuries were reported in the incident.

The Calhoun County Sheriff’s Office was assisted at the scene by the Marshall Police Department and the Calhoun County Consolidated Dispatch Authority.
