Pontiac, MI – A young deer is safe thanks to a swift and coordinated rescue by the Oakland County Sheriff’s Office search and rescue team on Monday. According to a department statement, deputies responded to a call about a deer trapped between cement highway barricades, facing a likely fatal situation without expert help.
The rescue occurred along a busy stretch of roadway, where traffic was briefly halted as the team deployed specialized equipment to reach the animal. Photos shared by the Sheriff’s Office show personnel carefully extracting the deer and using a rescue lift vehicle during the operation.
“Their diligence, training, and hard work paid off,” the Sheriff’s Office said, noting the deer was safely removed and later transferred to a wildlife rehabilitation center for care.
Officials praised the rescue team for their calm professionalism during what could have been a tragic scene. Drivers in the area were urged to remain cautious and alert for wildlife, particularly during early morning and evening hours when deer crossings are most common.
