Detroit, MI – Detroit police seized drugs, cash and weapons during a major narcotics raid Wednesday near a school on the city’s west side.

According to the Detroit Police Department, officers with the Narcotics Unit executed a search warrant in the 15000 block of Mapleridge Street on Wednesday, August 20, 2025. The search took place close to a Detroit elementary-middle school, where officers allegedly recovered multiple illegal substances and firearms.

Police reported one felony arrest and three misdemeanor arrests connected to the raid. Confiscated items included 51.6 grams of cocaine, 12.3 grams of fentanyl, 1.2 grams of heroin, 5 grams of methamphetamine, 14 pills, 8 firearms and $811 in cash. Authorities estimated the total street value of the narcotics at $5,818.

Investigators said one of the seized firearms had a machine gun conversion device, commonly called a “Glock switch,” attached. Two of the recovered guns were reportedly “ghost guns,” lacking serial numbers or traceable markings.

The department noted that the bust occurred in an area close to children and stressed the danger of firearms and narcotics circulating near schools. “Thank you officers for working daily to keep our city safe,” the department said in a public statement, encouraging residents to report suspicious activity by calling 911 or visiting a local precinct.

The investigation remains ongoing as police continue efforts to curb drug and gun activity in Detroit neighborhoods.
