Washington Township, MI – A 36-year-old man is in critical condition after being struck by a vehicle Monday night in Washington Township, according to the Macomb County Sheriff’s Office.

Deputies said the crash happened around 8:34 p.m. on September 22 along 32 Mile Road just west of M-53. A blue Ford Escape traveling eastbound struck the pedestrian, who was reportedly crossing the road from north to south.

According to the sheriff’s office, the driver initially believed a deer had hit her windshield before realizing it was a person. She immediately called 911 and stayed at the scene.

The Washington Township Fire Department provided lifesaving measures before transporting the man to a local hospital. He remains in critical condition.

Deputies reported the driver showed no signs of alcohol or drug impairment, registering a .000 on a preliminary breath test. Investigators said the woman has been cooperative throughout the process.

Preliminary findings indicate the driver was not at fault in the incident, authorities stated.
