ANN ARBOR, Michigan – A significant winter storm is set to arrive just after kickoff of today’s showdown between No. 1 Ohio State and No. 15 Michigan, but fans should be prepared for a messy trip home once the game ends.

Snow is expected to begin spreading into southeast Michigan between 3 p.m. and 6 p.m., which means the 11 a.m. kickoff at Michigan Stadium should largely avoid direct impacts. However, conditions will deteriorate quickly this afternoon and evening as widespread snowfall of 5 to 8 inches develops across the region.

The heaviest snow is forecast between 6 p.m. and 2 a.m., which aligns closely with when fans will be leaving Ann Arbor and traveling on I-94, US-23, and surrounding routes. Roads will become slick and snow-covered, visibility will drop, and travel will slow significantly as the evening progresses.

Winter Storm Warnings and Advisories remain in effect through Sunday morning. Anyone attending the game should plan for extra travel time afterward, consider leaving earlier than usual, and be prepared for rapidly worsening weather conditions on the drive home.

Snow tapers off Sunday morning, but lingering impacts will continue until roads can be cleared.
