DETROIT, MI – A soft hush falls over southeast Michigan as a thin layer of frost glimmers under the streetlights and the first light snowflakes drift through the air. The wind coming off the Detroit River cuts sharp against the early morning chill, reminding residents that winter’s preview has arrived just in time for Veterans Day ceremonies.

According to the National Weather Service in Detroit/Pontiac, light snow showers are expected to redevelop later today, with chances increasing through the afternoon and evening. While most areas will see little accumulation, slick spots may form on bridges, ramps, and untreated roads — especially north and west of I-94 and I-275. Wind gusts could reach 25 mph, keeping wind chills in the 20s for much of the day.

By Wednesday, a brief rain-snow mix is possible as temperatures climb into the low 40s. Any flakes that linger early will give way to clouds and breezy conditions before drier, milder air arrives. Thursday through Saturday turn brighter and warmer, with highs in the upper 40s to near 55°F, offering a break for outdoor chores or early holiday decorating.

Long-range trends show no major storms on the immediate horizon, though models hint at another cold push before Thanksgiving — possibly another winter tease for southeast Michigan. For now, residents can expect a brisk start to the week followed by calmer, sunnier weather and gradually improving travel conditions heading into the weekend.
