Detroit, Michigan – Southeast Michigan will see a cool and rainy start to Memorial Day weekend, with drier and warmer conditions expected by Saturday.
According to the National Weather Service in Detroit, scattered light showers and cloudy skies will persist through Friday. Highs today will range from the upper 40s in Bad Axe and Sandusky to the mid-50s in Detroit and Monroe. Overnight lows will drop into the low 40s across much of the region, with cooler spots like Howell and Ann Arbor dipping to 40°F.
Friday brings more showers, with daytime highs between 52°F and 58°F. However, skies begin to clear Saturday as temperatures rise into the lower 60s across Pontiac, Saginaw, and Ann Arbor. Sunday and Memorial Day will feel more like late spring, with highs reaching 68°F in Detroit and Monroe.
Drivers should be prepared for wet roads Friday and cooler-than-average mornings throughout the weekend. Those planning outdoor activities should keep rain gear handy early, but can look forward to improving conditions Saturday afternoon through Monday.
This is expected to be the region’s first mostly dry holiday weekend in several years. Additional updates will follow if new advisories are issued.
