Detroit, MI – As March begins, Michigan residents can expect snow showers and gusty winds through early next week, impacting travel and daily routines. A Wind Advisory is in effect Saturday from 11 a.m. to 5 p.m., with gusts reaching up to 45 mph.

According to the National Weather Service, light snow will develop late Saturday morning, mainly north of I-69, with accumulations of up to an inch near M-46. Additional snowfall is possible Sunday night into Monday, particularly in the northern Thumb region, due to persistent lake effect snow.

Winds will strengthen through the afternoon, making travel hazardous, especially on open highways such as I-69 and I-75. Drivers should exercise caution, as blowing snow may reduce visibility. Temperatures will remain cold, with highs in the low to mid-30s through Tuesday before gradually warming midweek.

Looking ahead, light snow showers are expected to linger into early Thursday, with potential accumulations of up to two inches near the eastern lakeshore. By midweek, temperatures are forecasted to rise slightly, with highs reaching the upper 30s.

Residents should secure outdoor objects, dress in layers, and prepare for slippery road conditions. Stay updated on local advisories and road conditions as the week progresses.
