La Porte, IN – A Kalamazoo, Michigan man was arrested early Sunday after a high-speed pursuit through LaPorte County ended with a K9 unit apprehension, according to the La Porte County Sheriff’s Office.
Deputies said the incident began around 3:36 a.m. when a deputy observed a vehicle traveling on Lincolnway in LaPorte at nearly twice the posted speed limit. The driver allegedly failed to stop when police attempted a traffic stop, leading officers on a chase through several city streets.
According to the sheriff’s office, the vehicle struck a fence near the LaPorte County Highway Department before fleeing again. Tire deflation devices were deployed at multiple locations, including SR 2, US 421, CR 300 North, Franklin Street, and US 20.
