Newaygo, MI – The Michigan Department of Transportation (MDOT) has announced that repairs to the M-37 bridge over the Muskegon River in Newaygo will begin on Monday, March 24, 2025. The project, valued at $730,000, will focus on substructure repairs, steel pin and link plate replacements, and expansion joint improvements.

According to MDOT, traffic on M-37 will be limited to one lane in each direction during construction. Lane closures and shifts will be in place to facilitate the repairs. Additionally, M-82 will be closed at the intersection with M-37, with traffic detoured via Evergreen Drive.

The bridge work is expected to be completed by Friday, June 27, 2025. MDOT estimates that the investment will support approximately seven direct and indirect jobs based on economic modeling.

Officials emphasize that the repairs will enhance the bridge’s safety and longevity, ensuring continued functionality for motorists. Commuters are advised to plan for delays and use alternate routes when possible.
