Clarkston, MI – Drivers in Oakland County should prepare for a major traffic change this week as crews close a key ramp along I-75.
According to the Michigan Department of Transportation (MDOT), the southbound I-75 Exit 106 ramp to Dixie Highway and the Dixie Highway entrance ramp to southbound I-75 will shut down at 10 a.m. Friday. The closures are part of the ongoing $160 million resurfacing project along I-75 from M-15 to the Oakland/Genesee County line. Weather permitting, the ramps are expected to reopen in late fall.
During the closure, ramp traffic will be detoured via southbound I-75 Exit 108 to North Holly Road, then eastbound Baldwin Road to Saginaw Road/Dixie Highway. MDOT said lane reductions will also remain in place on I-75, with traffic narrowed to two lanes between Baldwin Road and Clarkston Road.
The following ramps remain closed until late fall:
- Southbound I-75 Exit 98 to East Holly Road
- Southbound I-75 Exits 93 and 106 to Dixie Highway
- Southbound I-75 Exit 91 to M-15
Entrance ramps at East Holly Road, Dixie Highway, and Grange Hall Road will also stay closed during the same period.
The resurfacing project is part of Gov. Gretchen Whitmer’s Rebuilding Michigan program, which aims to extend the lifespan of critical infrastructure. MDOT said the investment is expected to directly and indirectly support nearly 1,936 jobs.
In 2026, crews plan to remove temporary crossovers and complete miscellaneous work to wrap up the multi-year project.
