Detroit, Michigan – Temperatures across southeast Michigan will feel like 100°F or more by 5 p.m. Saturday as a heat advisory blankets the region and isolated morning storms threaten parts of the state.

According to the National Weather Service in Detroit/Pontiac, heat index values are expected to peak between 95 and 102 degrees in cities including Flint, Pontiac, and Ann Arbor. A 30–60% chance of thunderstorms exists before 11 a.m., especially north of the I-69 corridor, where wind gusts could exceed 50 mph and hail larger than an inch is possible.

By late afternoon, extreme humidity combined with temps in the lower 90s will drive dangerous conditions across the state. Saginaw could reach a 102°F heat index, with similar levels in Howell, Monroe, and Detroit. Power outages are possible if storms knock out lines, and heat-sensitive residents should prepare for elevated health risks.

Residents are urged to limit outdoor activity, drink plenty of water, and check on elderly neighbors or those without AC. Cooling centers may be activated if conditions worsen.

The heat advisory remains in effect through Saturday evening. Additional alerts may be issued if storms redevelop.
