Saginaw, MI – Drivers along Interstate 75 and across mid-Michigan should prepare for severely reduced visibility due to dense fog overnight.

According to the National Weather Service in Detroit/Pontiac, a Dense Fog Advisory is in effect for Saginaw, Bay, Midland, Huron, and Tuscola counties until 9 a.m. EDT Saturday. Visibility may fall to a quarter-mile or less, creating hazardous conditions, especially for early morning commuters.

The advisory began just before 11 p.m. Friday and is expected to persist through early Saturday morning. The most significant impacts will be felt along I-75, particularly between Flint and Saginaw, where fog can settle quickly and obscure roadways without warning.

Officials urge drivers to slow down, use low-beam headlights, and maintain a safe following distance. Motorists should avoid high speeds and allow extra travel time through affected areas.

While March often brings unpredictable weather in Michigan, fog of this density is less common this late in the month, creating potential risks for unaware travelers.

Residents are encouraged to monitor local traffic updates and NWS alerts. If possible, delay early morning travel until conditions improve after 9 a.m.
