Cass County, MI – A significant firearms seizure led to the arrest of a Howard Township man on Monday. Cass County Drug Enforcement Team detectives received a tip that a known felon possessed multiple firearms and potentially sold narcotics from a travel trailer.
According to the Cass County Sheriff’s Office, detectives located the trailer and, with assistance from the Pokagon Tribal Police Department, conducted a traffic stop in the 2500 block of Lake Shore Drive in Niles. Through a bedroom window, officers observed several firearms on a bed. Following the issuance of a search warrant, detectives found 21 firearms and a large quantity of ammunition inside the trailer.
Further investigation revealed that two of the firearms were stolen. The 40-year-old male suspect, whose name is withheld pending arraignment, was arrested for felonious possession of firearms and is currently held at the Cass County Jail.
