Cassopolis, MI – A 78-year-old Edwardsburg man was hospitalized Thursday morning following a single-vehicle crash in Mason Township, Cass County.
According to the Cass County Sheriff’s Office, deputies responded at approximately 9:35 a.m. to the crash on Mason Road near Gordon Street. The driver, identified as Larry Rentfrow, was traveling westbound when his vehicle left the roadway, struck multiple trees and overturned.
Authorities said Rentfrow was trapped inside his vehicle until deputies and emergency crews were able to extract him. He was transported by SEPSA Ambulance to South Bend Memorial Hospital for injuries sustained in the accident. The extent of his injuries has not been released.
The Cass County Sheriff’s Office reported that alcohol and drugs did not appear to be factors in the crash. Rentfrow was wearing his seatbelt at the time of the incident. Assisting at the scene were SEPSA Ambulance and the SEPSA Fire Department.
