Wayne Township, MI – A crash late Saturday night in Cass County left three people hospitalized after a vehicle struck a tree and rolled into an embankment, authorities said.
According to the Cass County Sheriff’s Office, the incident occurred around 11 p.m. Saturday on Rudy Road, just south of Gage Street in Wayne Township. Deputies say the vehicle, driven by 20-year-old Ethan Foster of Dowagiac, allegedly lost control while traveling northbound and veered off the roadway into an embankment, ultimately striking a tree.
Foster and his two passengers—18-year-old Jaden West of Dowagiac and a juvenile—were reportedly able to exit the vehicle on their own. All three occupants were transported to South Bend Memorial Hospital for treatment of injuries sustained in the crash.
The sheriff’s office confirmed that all individuals in the vehicle were wearing seatbelts. The role of alcohol or other intoxicants in the crash is under active investigation.
Emergency crews from SMCAS Ambulance and the Dowagiac Fire Department assisted at the scene.
