Midland, MI – A 30-year-old Allen Park man has died following a single-vehicle construction zone crash in Midland County, authorities confirmed.

According to the Midland County Sheriff’s Office, the incident happened around 10:50 a.m. on Monday, September 8, 2025, on eastbound US-10 near the West River Road on-ramp in Jerome Township. Deputies say Eduardo Aguilar, 30, was fatally injured while working from the back of a 2021 Chevrolet Silverado.

Preliminary reports indicate Aguilar was helping place barrels in the roadway when he fell from the moving pickup, striking his head on the pavement. The truck was driven by a 24-year-old Bay City man, who was not hurt in the crash.

Aguilar was transported to MyMichigan Medical Center by EMS and died on September 14 due to injuries from the fall, investigators said.

The Sheriff’s Office noted that toxicology tests are pending to determine if alcohol or drugs played a role. A final report will be forwarded to the Midland County Prosecutor’s Office for review.

Emergency crews from the Jerome Township Fire Department, Michigan State Police, and MyMichigan EMS assisted at the scene.
