Marquette, MI – A winter storm is set to bring snow and strong winds to Upper Michigan on Sunday, with travel disruptions expected. Snow accumulation could reach up to 5 inches in some areas, with gusts up to 45 mph in the Keweenaw Peninsula.
According to the National Weather Service, snow will begin Saturday night and continue into Sunday morning before tapering off from west to east. Wind gusts could create blowing snow, reducing visibility and making roads slick. Motorists should prepare for hazardous travel conditions, especially on US-41 and M-26.
Sunday’s high will be around 36°F, with a chance of rain mixing with snow in the afternoon. Wind chills could make temperatures feel much colder. Looking ahead, Monday will bring drier conditions but remain cloudy, with highs in the mid-20s. Another round of snow showers is possible Tuesday night.
Residents should secure outdoor items and be prepared for possible power outages in wind-prone areas. Those traveling should check road conditions and allow extra time for their commute.
