Grand Rapids, MI – A winter storm is set to impact Michigan through Sunday and Washington’s Birthday, bringing heavy snow, strong winds, and hazardous road conditions. Forecasters warn of snowfall between 4 and 7 inches in central and western Michigan, with the heaviest accumulation expected Sunday morning. Wind gusts up to 30 mph could create blowing snow and reduced visibility.

According to the National Weather Service (NWS), a Winter Weather Advisory remains in effect until 7 p.m. Sunday. A wintry mix is possible along and south of the I-96 corridor, increasing the risk of ice accumulation and slick roads. Snow-covered roads could make travel difficult, especially on major highways such as I-96 and US-131.

Looking ahead, temperatures will remain bitterly cold into next week. Monday will see a high of just 15°F, with additional snow showers possible. An arctic blast is expected to push wind chills below zero by midweek, making for dangerously cold conditions.

Drivers should slow down, use caution, and check road conditions before traveling. Stay updated with the latest weather alerts and plan accordingly for potential delays.
