Grand Rapids, MI – Spring storms will bring heavy rain and gusty winds to Grand Rapids on Wednesday before temperatures drop sharply later this week. Residents should prepare for wet roads, reduced visibility, and strong wind gusts reaching 33 mph in some areas.

According to the National Weather Service, showers will develop after 7 a.m. Wednesday, with temperatures peaking near 54°F. South-southeast winds of 9 mph will shift southwest in the afternoon, increasing in intensity. Rain could total up to half an inch, potentially leading to minor flooding in low-lying areas.

By Wednesday night, temperatures will drop to around 26°F as rain transitions to snow showers. The strong northwest winds, reaching up to 33 mph, will add to the cold, creating slick road conditions overnight.

Thursday will bring drier conditions, with partly sunny skies and a high of 34°F. Nighttime lows will dip to 27°F before another chance of snow showers arrives Friday, when highs are expected to reach 39°F.

The weekend will see a slight warm-up, with mostly sunny skies and highs in the mid-30s to low 40s. However, nighttime temperatures will stay below freezing.

Drivers should use caution on wet roads Wednesday and prepare for potentially icy conditions by late evening. Those commuting on major roadways, including I-96 and US-131, should allow extra time and stay updated on changing conditions.
