Northern Indiana – An active stretch of winter weather is unfolding across northern Indiana and southern Lower Michigan, bringing strong winds, lake effect snow, and another storm system expected later this weekend, according to the National Weather Service in Northern Indiana.

A Wind Advisory remains in effect for the entire region through 7 PM EST Wednesday, with west to southwest winds gusting up to 50 mph, especially near Lake Michigan. Winds will gradually diminish overnight but remain breezy into early Thanksgiving morning.

Later today, lake effect snow showers are expected to develop, continuing through Thursday morning. A Winter Weather Advisory is in effect for Berrien, Cass, and St. Joseph Counties in Michigan through early Friday. Snow totals of 3 to 6 inches are possible in heavier bands, with blowing snow and reduced visibility making travel hazardous at times.

Looking ahead, another storm system will arrive Saturday into early Sunday, potentially bringing accumulating snow across northern Indiana, northwestern Ohio, and southern Michigan. Forecast uncertainty remains regarding rain versus snow, but travel disruptions are likely for those returning from the Thanksgiving holiday.

Motorists are urged to secure outdoor items, prepare for rapidly changing road conditions, and stay tuned to updated forecasts as the active weather pattern continues.
