MIAMI, Fla. – Storm clouds will build quickly across South Florida this afternoon as scattered thunderstorms develop, bringing heavy downpours, lightning, and gusty winds to the region. Afternoon highs will climb into the lower 90s before storms roll in, keeping conditions muggy and unstable into the evening.
According to the National Weather Service in Miami, partly sunny skies this morning will give way to increasing cloud cover, followed by widespread showers and thunderstorms developing by late afternoon. The risk extends across Miami, Fort Lauderdale, West Palm Beach, and Naples, with localized flooding possible on already saturated roadways.
Drivers on I-95, I-75, and the Palmetto Expressway should prepare for sudden downpours reducing visibility. Outdoor plans may also be disrupted, as lightning strikes and gusty winds remain a concern through tonight. Residents are advised to move indoors quickly at the first sign of thunder and avoid flooded intersections.
The storm threat will ease overnight but return midweek, with another round of afternoon showers possible as tropical moisture lingers over the peninsula.
