Miami, Fla. – Heavy evening showers and thunderstorms are expected to soak South Florida tonight, raising the risk of localized flooding across metro areas. Drivers could encounter water ponding on roads in Miami, Fort Lauderdale, West Palm Beach, and Naples through the late evening hours.

According to the National Weather Service in Miami, scattered to numerous thunderstorms will continue to build into the night, with heavy downpours, gusty winds, and frequent lightning possible. Rain chances remain high, with Miami seeing a 70% likelihood of storms, Naples and Fort Lauderdale at 60%, and West Palm Beach at 50%.

The most immediate impacts will be on travel, with slick roads and reduced visibility during heavy downpours. Lightning could also pose a hazard at outdoor events, while localized flooding may affect low-lying neighborhoods and intersections across Broward and Miami-Dade counties. Officials urge residents to avoid driving through flooded streets and to move vehicles out of flood-prone areas if possible.

Storms are expected to taper off overnight, though unsettled weather may continue into midweek, keeping conditions damp and stormy. Additional advisories could be issued if flooding worsens.
