Miami, Florida – An unusually cold morning is settling over South Florida, bringing brisk conditions and early travel concerns for drivers near Miami, especially across inland and elevated roadways. While snow and ice are not an issue, the sharp drop in temperatures is creating hazards for those unaccustomed to cold-weather driving and early-morning exposure.

According to the National Weather Service in Miami, a Cold Weather Advisory remains in effect through mid-morning for inland Palm Beach County and areas surrounding Lake Okeechobee, including parts of Collier, Hendry, and Glades counties. Apparent temperatures dipped into the upper 20s and lower 30s before sunrise, with coldest readings occurring away from the immediate coastline.

For Miami-Dade County, temperatures are hovering in the 30s to lower 40s early, which can still impact bridges and exposed road surfaces during the pre-dawn commute. Routes such as the Florida Turnpike, U.S. 27, and elevated expressways may feel slick due to overnight condensation and rapid cooling. Drivers are urged to slow down, stay alert, and allow extra time during the morning commute.

Residents are advised to protect pets, plants, and pipes, and to limit prolonged outdoor exposure. Temperatures rebound later this morning, but another cool night remains possible. Additional advisories could follow if cold conditions persist.
