Miami, FL – The National Weather Service in Miami warns that patchy dense fog could develop across parts of South Florida early Sunday morning, potentially creating hazardous driving conditions in low-lying and inland areas.
According to the NWS, calm winds, clear skies, and lingering surface moisture will combine to produce areas of fog between 2 a.m. and 8 a.m. Sunday, with the highest risk between 4 a.m. and 8 a.m.. The western half of South Florida, including the nearshore Gulf waters, has the greatest chance of seeing visibility drop to ¼ mile or less.
Forecast data shows fog probabilities around 30–35% near Cape Coral and Bonita Springs, and up to 20–30% around Key Largo and Homestead, while coastal cities such as Miami, Fort Lauderdale, and West Palm Beach face minimal risk.
Drivers traveling early Sunday should slow down, use low-beam headlights, and allow extra distance between vehicles. Fog is expected to lift shortly after sunrise as temperatures warm.
