Miami, Florida – Localized downpours could bring 1 to 1.5 inches of rain to South Florida today, with the greatest flood risk targeting metro areas from Naples to West Palm Beach.

According to the National Weather Service in Miami, showers and thunderstorms will increase late this morning and continue through early evening. Rainfall rates could overwhelm drainage in low-lying neighborhoods, especially east of I-95 and across Collier and Palm Beach counties. While most areas will see moderate totals, slow-moving cells could produce isolated 3 to 5-inch accumulations.

Rain chances top 90% in cities like Palmdale, Immokalee, and West Palm Beach. Miami and Homestead face lower—but still significant—storm chances near 65%, with totals under a quarter inch more likely unless stronger storms develop. Temperatures across the region will hold in the mid to upper 80s, adding to the muggy conditions.

Drivers should avoid flooded roadways and prepare for reduced visibility during heavy rain. If storms stall over one area, ponding on roads and flash flooding could rapidly develop.

Scattered showers may continue overnight, and another round of storms is possible Friday. Additional advisories may be issued if rain totals climb or flood reports increase.
