Miami, Florida – Scattered thunderstorms will bring heavy rain, gusty winds, and lightning to much of South Florida this afternoon, especially in interior and southwest counties where storm chances top 60%.
According to the National Weather Service in Miami, showers and storms will develop across the region from early afternoon through the evening hours. The highest likelihood—up to 67%—will impact cities such as Belle Glade, Lakeport, La Belle, and Immokalee. Areas including Miami, Fort Lauderdale, and West Palm Beach can expect a 42–45% chance of storms, while Naples and Everglades City could see heavy downpours and strong winds.
Travelers along I-75 and local roadways should plan for reduced visibility, slick roads, and potential street flooding. Gusts may reach 40–50 mph in stronger storms, raising the risk of fallen branches or isolated power outages. Residents are urged to remain indoors during lightning, secure outdoor items, and avoid driving through flooded areas.
The summer storm threat will persist through sunset, with additional advisories possible if conditions worsen. Check back for updates as showers could redevelop Tuesday.
