Miami, FL – The National Weather Service in Miami is warning of hazardous marine and beach conditions developing tonight across South Florida as a strong cold front pushes through the region, bringing gusty winds, rough seas, and a high risk of rip currents.
Forecasters say a Small Craft Advisory will go into effect tonight and remain in place through Thursday, with seas building to 4–7 feet and winds near 20 knots out of the west-northwest.
Both Gulf and Atlantic beaches will face a high risk of dangerous rip currents, making swimming and small boat operations unsafe. Elevated surf and choppy nearshore waters are expected to continue into Thursday evening before gradually improving late week.
The weather service urges swimmers and boaters to avoid hazardous waters and stay alert for changing coastal conditions as the front moves through.
Cooler, breezy air is expected to follow the front, bringing a brief taste of fall to South Florida by Thursday night.
