Miami, Florida – Gusty winds are expected along Miami’s immediate east coast this afternoon through early Tuesday, with a 30 to 60 percent chance of wind gusts exceeding 30 miles per hour.
According to the National Weather Service in Miami, the strongest winds are expected closest to the coastline, where onshore flow will increase through the afternoon and evening. Most areas will see wind gusts in the 20 to 30 mph range, with isolated stronger gusts possible near the coast.
Forecasters warn that these gusty conditions could knock down poorly secured holiday decorations, outdoor furniture, and lightweight items. Winds are expected to gradually weaken farther inland, reducing impacts away from the immediate shoreline.
The timing of the strongest gusts is expected this afternoon through early Tuesday morning, coinciding with overnight hours when unsecured items may be harder to notice.
NWS probability graphics highlight the highest risk along Miami-Dade County’s coastal corridor, with lower probabilities moving westward inland. No widespread damage is expected, but brief power interruptions or downed decorations are possible in exposed areas.
The gusty conditions may affect commuters, early-morning workers, and coastal residents, especially those traveling on bridges or exposed roadways.
Residents are encouraged to secure loose outdoor items and remain aware of changing conditions through Tuesday morning.
