Miami, FL – A vivid orange sunrise glows over Biscayne Bay this morning, but the scene hides a brewing danger along South Florida’s coast. Powerful rip currents and minor coastal flooding are affecting beaches from Palm Beach County through Miami-Dade, creating hazardous conditions for swimmers and coastal drivers as tides peak through late morning.

According to the National Weather Service in Miami, a Rip Current Statement and Coastal Flood Statement remain in effect through early Thursday for the Atlantic coastline, including Fort Lauderdale, Hollywood, and Miami Beach. Dangerous rip currents can quickly pull swimmers into deeper water, while persistent onshore winds are pushing tides higher than normal. Low-lying roads near the Intracoastal and coastal causeways may see shallow flooding around high tide. Beach visitors should swim near lifeguards, avoid standing water on roads, and never attempt to drive through flooded areas.

The rest of the week stays warm and breezy, with mostly cloudy skies and highs near 81°F through Thursday. Winds ease slightly by Friday, and sunshine returns across much of South Florida heading into the weekend. Saturday and Sunday are expected to be bright and seasonably warm, with highs in the mid-80s — ideal for outdoor plans once surf hazards subside.

Forecasters say this stretch of late-autumn warmth could be South Florida’s last before an early-season cold front dips south by Veterans Day. The next system may deliver lower humidity and a taste of November coolness — signaling that even in Miami, fall’s gentler season is edging closer.
