Miami, FL – A fast-moving fire threat is building across inland South Florida this afternoon, where humidity levels near 30% could allow flames to spread quickly through dry vegetation before 7 p.m. Monday.

According to the National Weather Service in Miami, a combination of prolonged drought, low humidity between 30% and 40%—with some areas dropping below 30%—and light winds of 6 to 8 mph is creating enhanced fire behavior across Collier, Hendry, and Glades counties. Burn bans are now in effect across all three counties.

The highest risk stretches inland from Naples toward Immokalee and across rural zones near U.S. 27 and I-75, including stretches of Alligator Alley where dry grasses can ignite and spread rapidly. Fire crews warn that even small sparks from vehicles or outdoor equipment could trigger fast-growing brush fires.

Residents are urged to avoid outdoor burning, keep vehicles off dry grass, and report any smoke immediately to local authorities. Power infrastructure in remote areas could also face risk if fires spread near utility lines.

This elevated fire danger remains in place through 7 p.m. Monday, with additional advisories possible if dry conditions persist into Tuesday.
