Florida – Choppy surf and steady onshore winds are building along Miami’s beaches this afternoon, creating a dangerous rip current setup that can pull swimmers offshore in seconds.

According to the National Weather Service in Miami, a rip current statement remains in effect through early Sunday morning. East to northeast winds are increasing to around 15 to 20 mph, with gusts up to 22 to 24 mph, driving hazardous surf conditions along the Atlantic coastline .

At the same time, inland areas remain warm and breezy. Miami is climbing toward 77°F today, with a slight 20 percent chance of brief showers during the late morning hours. Skies gradually turn partly sunny, but winds remain persistent through the afternoon.

Along I-95 and coastal routes like A1A, beach traffic is expected to increase as conditions appear inviting. However, strong rip currents remain the primary خطر, especially for inexperienced swimmers. Lifeguards recommend staying near staffed areas and avoiding deeper water.

If caught in a rip current, swim parallel to shore and conserve energy. Do not fight the current directly. Even experienced swimmers can struggle in these conditions.

Looking ahead, the pattern stays warm and breezy. Highs reach near 78°F Sunday and continue into the upper 70s through midweek. Winds remain elevated, especially along the coast, keeping surf conditions active.
