Miami, Florida – South Florida will experience a dramatic temperature swing Monday, with near-record warmth this afternoon followed by a sharp overnight drop of 30 to 40 degrees, according to the National Weather Service.

High temperatures across the eastern half of South Florida are forecast to reach the mid to upper 80s this afternoon, with some locations briefly approaching 90 degrees. Forecasters say it will feel like the mid-80s to low 90s across much of the region before conditions rapidly change.

A strong cold front will move through this evening, ushering in gusty northerly winds and a rapid cooldown overnight. By daybreak Tuesday, temperatures are expected to fall into the low 30s to upper 40s, with the coldest readings forecast across interior and western areas.

As a result, a Cold Weather Advisory is in effect from midnight through 9 a.m. Tuesday for Glades and Hendry counties, where apparent temperatures in the low to mid-30s are possible for several hours.

Along the immediate coast, including Miami and Fort Lauderdale, lows are expected to bottom out in the upper 40s to lower 50s, though brisk winds may make it feel colder during the early morning hours.

Residents are urged to prepare for the abrupt change, dress in layers, and take precautions to protect people, pets, and sensitive plants, especially in inland communities under the advisory.

The cold start to Tuesday will be short-lived, with gradual warming expected later in the week.
