BUNCHE PARK, Fla. – South Florida drivers should prepare for dangerous road conditions as storms intensify across Miami-Dade through Friday afternoon. Heat indices pushing near 100 degrees and daily rounds of heavy rain could snarl commutes on I-95 and local side roads. Officials urge residents to limit non-essential travel during peak storm hours and remain alert for flooded intersections.

According to the National Weather Service in Miami, scattered showers will increase after 2 p.m. Wednesday and Thursday, with the strongest storms expected late Friday. Forecasters warn of localized flooding, reduced visibility, and frequent lightning across Bunche Park, Miami Gardens, and Hialeah. New rainfall amounts may exceed one inch in the hardest-hit areas.

The Thursday heat will also pose challenges, with “feels-like” temperatures near 100 before storms cool the region. Winds remain light, but unstable air and lingering moisture will continue fueling thunderstorms through the weekend. Friday’s pattern remains especially concerning, with storms building rapidly during the afternoon rush.

Travelers along I-95 and U.S. 441 should remain cautious, as downpours could cause ponding on roadways and sudden lane closures. Residents are advised to clear storm drains, secure outdoor items, and keep devices charged in case of power outages.

Storm chances remain at 30–40% into early next week, with no significant cooling on the horizon. The season’s first taste of fall heat relief still appears weeks away.
