Troy, OH – Detectives in Miami County have filed arrest warrants for two Dayton men after a series of storage unit break-ins reported last month in Bethel Township. Deputies say several units at a local storage facility were forcibly entered, with property and motor vehicles stolen.

According to the Miami County Sheriff’s Office, the break-in was reported on November 17, 2025, prompting investigators to work with the Dayton Police Department to identify potential suspects. Detectives say two men were ultimately identified: Aaron W. Wood, 46, of Dayton, and Brian L. Matheny, 51, also of Dayton. Both were allegedly involved in the felony theft and felony breaking and entering offenses tied to the case.

Deputies reported that Wood was later located in Dayton and taken into custody. He remains in the Montgomery County Jail on local charges in addition to a Miami County detainer. According to investigators, Wood is well known to law enforcement and is currently on active parole with the State of Ohio.

Matheny, who deputies say is also familiar to law enforcement, remains at large. Miami County Sheriff Dave Duchak urged residents to report any sightings or information related to Matheny’s whereabouts to their local police agency.

The Sheriff’s Office stated that the investigation remains active as deputies work to recover stolen property and determine whether additional suspects or related incidents may be connected.

Residents who use storage facilities in Bethel Township or surrounding areas are encouraged to check their units and report any unauthorized entry.
