Troy, OH – Miami County residents will have a chance to safely dispose of unwanted medications during National Drug Take Back Day on Saturday, October 25th.
According to the Miami County Sheriff’s Office, the event will be held curbside from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. at the Miami County Sanitary Engineer’s Office, 2200 N. County Road 25A in Troy. Deputies and staff will accept expired, unused, or unwanted prescription drugs for proper disposal.
The program is part of a nationwide initiative aimed at preventing pill abuse and theft. By turning in unused medications, residents help reduce the risk of dangerous drugs being misused, stolen, or accidentally consumed.
Officials said the service is free and anonymous, with no questions asked. All medications collected will be turned over to the U.S. Drug Enforcement Administration (DEA) and destroyed in an environmentally safe manner.
Miami County Sheriff Dave Duchak emphasized the importance of participation, noting that the event provides families with an easy way to clear their homes of potentially harmful medications.
Residents are encouraged to take advantage of the one-day event to protect their households and community.
