According to the Indiana State Police Peru District, officers responded just before 12:30 p.m. Friday, January 16, to an injury crash on Mexico Road near Eel River Road in Macy, located in Miami County, north of Kokomo, Indiana.
Police said Robert Wiser, 61, of Macy, was driving a 1993 Chevrolet pickup truck southbound on Mexico Road when, for reasons still under investigation, the vehicle traveled off the roadway and came to rest in a ditch. First responders arrived and initiated life-saving measures after Wiser became unresponsive at the scene.
Wiser was transported by ambulance to a local hospital, where he later succumbed to his injuries, according to medical staff.
Indiana State Police said the crash remains under investigation. At this time, neither alcohol nor narcotics are suspected as contributing factors. Notification of the victim’s family has been completed.
